Anna Sui Eye colour palette Review

When browsing through the FeelYounique.com sale, I came across the Anna Sui eye colour palette, which normally retails for £28.00, down to £12. So I decided to give it a go.

Anna Sui Eye Colour Palette (Feel younique/Asos – £28.00 RRP)

image

So as soon as I opened the palette, I noticed a familiar scent, the same as my Missha Signature Radiance foundation, a smell that resembles old lady perfume. Why companies feel the need to heavily scent make up I have no idea. So immediately i disliked this product as I can’t stand that kind of scent, but I tried to give the benefit of the doubt, and see how it swatched.

image

For £28.00 I was disappointed in the texture and pigmentation of the shadows. A few shades were extremely chalky, powdery, very cheap feeling. As a big fan of Makeup Revolution eyeshadows, which are usually around £4-6 for a palette of 12 colours, I was sad that this much more expensive palette couldn’t even match that of the affordable shadows I usually use.
image

Not sure if you can see in picture but a few of the shades have chunks and alot of flakiness. The pale pink practically fell apart just being swatched too.

The next day I gave the palette one more chance and tried to wear a few of the colours. Apart from the horrible scent all was fine as I covered my lid in the white shade, and when I went in with the khaki green in the outer corner, I noticed the shadow just blends away to nothing. You have to lay  it on quite heavy to get any pigmentation from it, and then when you try and blend it, it just disapears.

Very disapointed, and relieved I didn’t pay full price for this palette, but even £12 seems far too much. Wouldn’t repurchase, wouldn’t recommend, and to be honest, this palette won’t be used at all.

Have you got this palette? Do you feel differently? Let me know in the comments!

NYX Haul, Review & Swatches!

I recently got ordered a few bits from NYX website (www.nyxcosmetics.co.uk) and decided to do a review & swatches for all of you, incase any of you are pondering buying nyx products! I’ll try and keep each review short and sweet otherwise we’ll be here all day.

image

First up I got a new Nyx Jumbo eye pencil in Milk, because mines pretty much on it’s last legs. That should tell you enough about me liking it, especially if I add I only bought it a few weeks ago! Haha. It’s seriously so versatile. I use it mainly as a primer for bright eye shadows and it shows up the intensity more! Definitely one of my HOLY GRAIL products! I also bought one in black (Black Bean ) and have used it once since I got it, and think it’s just as good at the Milk one, but obviously to achieve a dark base instead. I can see myself reaching for this alot, especially when doing dramatic looks!

Next I got something I’d never really heard about, about was on sale, so thought why the hell not. It’s called the Nyx Eyebrow Shaper. NYX clams it tames unruly brows to lay flat and pretty.. Since using it a couple times, I really have to agree. It’s amazing for getting my brows neat as possible before I go in with my Anastasia Dipbrow pomade. And it keeps your hairs in place all day. Which I’ve always had a problem with as I seem to have a few brows that like to curl up during day. LOL. I won’t swatch it as it’s just clear, so that’s pointless.

Next up I got some lip liners. I really love NYX lip liners, they glide on beautifully, theyre pigmented and they’re long lasting. AND affordable. Win. I got Pumpkin, Fuchsia, Mauve, Cabaret, Coffee, and Black Berry.

And lastly I got some lipsticks. I LOVE Nyx lipsticks formula, it’s one of my favourite lipstick brands. So I picked up Bruised, Muse, Tea Rose, Haute Coutour and Electra. I’ve tried Tea Rose, Haute Coutour and Electra and LOVE them. Looking forward to finding an opportunity/reason to wear “Bruised” Oh my gosh, how gorgeous is it?!

So that’s it! (For this time :P) Have you tried Nyx products? If so what’s your favourite? Thanks for stopping by!

My Favourite False Eyelashes

Hey dolls!

Just a short blog post from me today, I had a follower request me to do a post about my favourite eyelashes… So here it is!

My FAVOURITE lashes at the moment are the Red Cherry #106’s. They’re glamorous, but still very natural. I just ordered a bulk of them as I know I’m going to go through the couple that I have pretty quick!

Next up are Red Cherry #43’s, which were, my favourite until I discovered 106. They’re so pretty and wispy.

For a very day to day natural look I’ll reach for Ardell Demi Wispies. Absolutely love them.

image

For Lash Glue, I use LashFix Eyelash and Body Adhesive. I have used this as a body glue and eyelash glue and it works great. I don’t really wear lashes for a long time anyway, but I have got a solid 6 hours using this glue, and then taken them off, so I’m not sure how long they would of stayed on for if I had left them. I don’t have problems with the lashes coming off, and this glue is EXTREMELY affordable at around £2.99 from eBay. I normally put a small blob on a palette, and then brush a tiny amount onto the lash. Wait around 20 seconds and apply and it dries clear. Definitely my favourite glue I’ve tried so far.

Bobbi Brown Day To Night Palette Review

First off. Let me remind you all, I’m all about the drugstore life. ALL ABOUT IT. But I do own some high end, but they pretty much live in my kit.

Today I reached for an oldie but a goodie, my Bobbi Brown day to night shadow palette. Sadly you can’t find this on the website anymore, but there are places online you can get this.

image

Now this palette is pretty small. Fits in the palm of my hand in fact. So its IDEAL for travelling. The packaging is a sleek compact, inside you will find your 5 shadows, a mirror and a little blending brush. I have tried the brush and as far as the brushes that come with palettes go (usually a foam applicator I find) it’s quite nice.

image

The colours included in this palette are PERFECT for exactly what the palette is called… day to night! You can achieve a neutral eye, or a dramatic shimmery smokey eye.

image

The lightest shade would probably be a lot more visible on most people so please bare in mind I’m a ghost!

(LEFT TO RIGHT)
Navajo, Slate, Heather Mauve, Steel, Caviar)

Verdict
All in all its a nice palette. It’s very travel friendly and if a neutral look is something you like than this is a great palette for you. The shadows are pigmented without fall out and easily blend able and long lasting.

Make up Revolution eyeliner pens review

I recently ordered a few new bits from Makeup Revolution. In that haul I got a couple of eyeliner pens. When they were launched I was so excited as I’m a big fan of felt tip style liquid eyeliners.

Make up revolution Double Flick & Kohl and flick liquid eyeliners  (£3.50 each)

image

I got the ‘Awesome Double Flick liquid eyeliner’ and the ‘Awesome dual eyeliner Kohl & flick’

image

I was very excited about this Kohl & Flick eyeliner. Everything I need in one pen! I always use gel/liquid eyeliner on my lid and Kohl for tightlining/waterline.

image

The Kohl side of the pen is a twist up as opposed to a pencil, which I prefer. It glides nicely and applies a strong pigmented matte black. The other side is a ‘precise’ liquid eyeliner, which I’ll go into more detail in with the double flick eyeliner pen.

image

image

The double flick liquid eyeliner has two liquid felt tip pen style tips. One is more pointed, the “precise” liner. This side can be used to create extremely thin and precise lines, perfect for drawing on that extra sharp wing! The other side is a little thicker and less pointed but still very precise. This side will create a little thicker of a line. My favourite method for using this eyeliner is drawing my lash line on thick using the thicker pen tip, carving out a wing with the precise side, and filling in with the thicker side.

image

(I used the Double flick liquid eyeliner in this photo)

The liner is long lasting and pretty smudge proof. My new favourite, eyeliner. I love it, especially for £3.50!

Make up Revolution – I ♡ Makeup “Death By Chocolate” REVIEW!

I’ve been very excited to try this palette, it got released the day after I’d put in an order for some other MUR goodies, and as I didn’t want to have to pay the shipping for this palette alone, I decided to wait until my next order. So its finally here, I’ve photographed it, swatched it, worn it, so now here’s the review!

I ❤ Make up by Makeup Revolution “Death by Chocolate” Eye-shadow Palette £7.99 from http://www.makeuprevolutionstore.com

unnamed (4)unnamed (3)

The palette comes in a cardboard sleeve, with a viewing window where you can see the palette. On the back of the box there is a display of the colours found inside the palette.

unnamed (2)

So I’m sure as you can see for yourself, that this palette was probably inspired by the ‘Chocolate Bar’ eyeshadow palette by Too Faced. It’s very similar in size, and the layout of the eyeshadows is somewhat similar too, with both palettes having 16 colours in total, and both having bigger sized highlight shades. The shadows don’t smell of chocolate like the Too Faced one does, but I can live with that!

unnamedunnamed (1)

Inside the palette you will find a clear slip with the names on the shadows. I really like this, as it’s a nice touch, and allows you to easily learn the names of your favourite shades 😉 There is a mirror on the inside, and as I said before, the highlight shades are bigger than the rest of the eyeshadows. This palette is perfect for day to day wear, as it has your base colour/highlight, matte transition shades, a variety of beautiful lid colours and dark mattes for the perfect smokey eye. I’ll definitely be taking this with me when I go away this weekend, as it has everything I need!

Swatches: Natural light, Samsung s5 phone camera. No primer.

Verdict:

I’m already in love with this palette and can see myself using alot for daily neutral looks, possibly even more dramatic stuff using the darker shades. A couple of the matte shades needed a couple of swipes before there was anything to swatch, but I have found that to be a very universal problem with affordable eyeshadow palettes, and have learned to use a heavier hand. Once you swipe it a couple of times, it’s absolutely fine. The consistency of the eyeshadows are quite creamy, they’re soft and very blend-able. You can blend out the intensity of the shimmer shades quite easily, so to avoid that, pat on the shimmer shadows rather than swiping. I think this is a beautiful palette, especially for £8. The packaging is perfect, it’s good for travelling, and the eyeshadows stay put all day. Yet another amazing product by the amazing Make up Revolution.

Introduction to Beautiful Darkness

image

Hi guys! First of all thank you for checking out our blog! We seriously appreciate everyone here!

So let me introduce myself I’m Elarner but Larny to most! I’m 24 from kent just outside of London, a mum of 2 gorgeous kiddies and a self confessed Makeup addict! My obsession mainly lies with M.A.C but most high end products I find I can’t resist!!! (So expect lots of reviews on them 🙈)
I’m a self taught MUA I do freelance but I also have some exciting things coming up in the future!!! 😁 Lois and I are so excited to colab on this blog as we both have the same passion for all things beauty! I hope our reviews and tutorials help everyone lean new things an enhance your inner beauty!! Please feel free to ask questions and let us know what you think!! 😘

Hi Beautifuls!

I’m Lois, you may know me off Instagram, but it’s hard to really tell you about myself on just a photo caption, so here you’ll be able to get to know me better, as well as in depth reviews and the occasional tutorial!

I’ve teamed up with my friend Elarner and together we created “Beautiful Darkness ” The name inspired by both  being pale ladies with dark hair! We’re both in the Make up artistry industry, so we thought putting our passion for make up together in one place could be a pretty cool thing! We hope you think so too!

So more about me. I’m 22, I live in Surrey, which is on the border of London, I’m a self taught MUA. I have 2 beautiful children, both boys. When it comes to make up I am a hardcore drugstore junkie. I love me some affordable yet quality make up that doesn’t break the bank. You can expect a lot of reviews on make up under £10.

I’m also a big fan of out of the ordinary make up. I find having rainbow eyeshadow and blue lips way more fun than a neutral look! But now and again I rein it in a bit and try and go natural 😁

Other than that I can’t think of much else. But I’m sure you’ll learn more about me through reading my blog posts, and future videos. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this, and we are so excited to have you join us on this exciting journey! Love & Kisses

Lois.
