Mu-Lac Cosmetics Swatches and first impressions

Mu-Lac Cosmetics Swatches and First impressions

http://www.mulaccosmetics.com/
Mu-Lac is an Italian brand who has a wide range of make up ranging from every day glam to fun and edgy, upon reading up about them I came across this quote on their site, and I love it

“If we were all the same, where would the fun be?”

First Impressions will be included under each swatch below.

I wanted to try and show the detail of each swatch, so instead of covering my arm and getting everything confusing I separated them into categories. All swatches are directly from my camera, no filter no editing, in natural lighting to try and show best what they look like in the flesh

Cream highlighters

image

(01 Flash, 02 Gleam, 02 Spark)

*Angel chorus* These are absolutely stunning, buttery, creamy and very pigmented. There is a scent to all of the products, but it is not unpleasant, kind of a sweet smell. I feel these will be gorgeous applied with a damp sponge for a subtle glow, or as a base for the powder highlights, for a intense glowing goddess look

Powder highlighters

image
(06 Eros, 07 Apollo)

Also, very gorgeous. I feel like I’d have to be VERY light handed with Apollo to pull it off being so pale but I’m determined to make it work.

Cream contour and highlight

image

(01 Eos, 08 Era, 05 Artemide)

These suprised me so much. At first glance the texture looks rough and at very first touch of the cream it feels that way too. but the second the warmth of your skin mixes with it, it’s very creamy. What i like about these is they do have a bit of sticking power, by that i mean when you place it down, it doesnt budge all that much, which is great for contouring so you can keep everything where you want it to be, but at the same time, blending out beautifully. These do remind me of the Anastasia cream contours, but a bit creamier.

Powder contour

image

(01 Ipno (bottom), 08 Ares (top))

HELLO perfect contour shade for ghosties, Ipno I’m talking to you. For the longest time I’ve used NYX Taupe Blush for contouring, I don’t like to contour with harsh warm tones (but thats just me, you do whatever makes you feel good) so upon finding this I was very excited. The darker warmer one Ares probably isn’t for me, I think it would work on someone more tanned but i’m a ghost, so nope. But Ipno… i think there is a beautiful love story in our future

Powder blush
image

(04 Scar, 06 Ariel)

These scare me. But only because I dont wear blush very often. But i’ve been trying to get out my comfort zone alot more and I’ll definitely be giving these a try with a very light hand. If I can’t get these to sit right on my ghost face I’ll use them as eyeshadows 😉 The colours are so beautiful though, makes me wish I wasn’t so pale so i’d at least have a shot with these

Lipsticks

image

(02 Mou, 08 Shock, 10 Pulp, 05 Pretty Woman)

image

I love the names of these, especially Pretty Woman. Such beautiful shades, wearable, fun and egdy, can’t wait to wear these. They are very creamy to swatch but they dry and mattify more after a while, and VERY pigmented. When I came to wiping these off after I took a picture I found they all left a stain that was quite hard to get off. I don’t know about you but to me thats a good thing! I’ll update with more indepth review once Ive had a good play which all the products properly. I was extremely fortunate enough to be sent these, however, as always the opinion is my own and reviews are 100% honest.

Blank Canvas Cosmetics Contour Palette

As I’m sure you know by now, I’m pretty damn pale! And being pale I have 2 struggles that are REAL. Finding a matching foundation and finding highlight/contour shades that work for me. I saw an ad while browsing the interwebs for blank canvas and decided to check them out, and came across this palette.
Blank Canvas Cosmetics Contour Palette  (http://www.blankcanvascosmetics.com £8.76)

image

Apologies for the markings on the palette, it’s used daily and is also that material that LOVES to grab finger marks and hold them dearly forever, no matter how much you wipe it down!

image

You get 6 shades. Highlight, Contour and a blush. I am a huge fan of the blush as it really suits my skin tone. A lovely corally pink!

I use the white shade as an under eye highlight, which would possibly be extreme on anyone with a normal skin colour, so the next one up would be a better fit as a highlight for a darker skin tone. I also use the white as an eyeshadow base, it’s fairly close to my skin colour when applied (yes, I really am that pale)

The second darkest contour shade is absolutely perfect for fair skinned girls, it’s not muddy, orange or too brown, and applies beautifully. This is my go to contour shade.

Left with flash right without.

The pigmentation isn’t amazing but I honestly prefer it that way for contour and blush as it’s not as easy to over do it. To me the white, yellow, lighter contour and blush are all PERFECT for my pale complexion. The powders blend lovely and gives a natural but visible finish and lasts all day. I will repurchase this palette forever!

Bobbi Brown Day To Night Palette Review

First off. Let me remind you all, I’m all about the drugstore life. ALL ABOUT IT. But I do own some high end, but they pretty much live in my kit.

Today I reached for an oldie but a goodie, my Bobbi Brown day to night shadow palette. Sadly you can’t find this on the website anymore, but there are places online you can get this.

image

Now this palette is pretty small. Fits in the palm of my hand in fact. So its IDEAL for travelling. The packaging is a sleek compact, inside you will find your 5 shadows, a mirror and a little blending brush. I have tried the brush and as far as the brushes that come with palettes go (usually a foam applicator I find) it’s quite nice.

image

The colours included in this palette are PERFECT for exactly what the palette is called… day to night! You can achieve a neutral eye, or a dramatic shimmery smokey eye.

image

The lightest shade would probably be a lot more visible on most people so please bare in mind I’m a ghost!

(LEFT TO RIGHT)
Navajo, Slate, Heather Mauve, Steel, Caviar)

Verdict
All in all its a nice palette. It’s very travel friendly and if a neutral look is something you like than this is a great palette for you. The shadows are pigmented without fall out and easily blend able and long lasting.

Elarner’s Top 3 Highlighters!!!

So one of the biggest craze in beauty these days is contour & highlight right? I know I jumped on the band wagon and now I can’t leave the house without it!!!

IMG_8513.JPG

So today I will be reviewing my three favourite highlighters ranging from high end, to very affordable and in three different shades, and let me say I believe any skintone can use any shade of highlighter! A lot of people worry that if it is to silver toned it won’t show up or if it is to bronze they will look over the top (I used worry the same!) however with a light hand and the right tool (I find a fan brush best) you really can use whatever tickles your fancy!!

Let me start buy giving the run down of what highlighters are used for, there are afew different types of highlighters out there and they have different purposes, today we are looking at shimmer highlighter powders. You apply these along the top of cheek bone, cuspids bow, brow bone and I also like to pop a little on the tip of my nose all to give that illusion of a youthful, fresh complexion, but of course you can use it in other areas this is just my personal preference.

IMG_8516.JPG

So let’s get started with the best value of the three
ELF Baked Blush “Pinktastic”
and as you may have guessed it’s actually not a highlighter at all, it’s a baked blush! However this IS a highlighter you just couldn’t use this as a blush unless you are trying to look like a fairy princess in that case knock yourself out 😜

This highlighter is pink based, however the veins that run through give it that gorgeous mix of pink & beige and they create the most gorgeous colour together! I find it’s not the longest lasting highlighter out there but for £3 I’m happy to retouch it after afew hours!

IMG_8515.JPG
Next we move on to my personal holy grail
MAC Cosmetics Mineralize skin finish “lightscpade”
Anyone that follows me on Instagram will know I’m a total M.A.C addict and can do little wrong in my eyes, but they really did create a wonderful product here!

This is the most beautiful yet subtle highlighter, no chunky glitter just the a smooth blendable shimmery silver! This also has gorgeous veins of blues & yellows running through it and oh my it really is perfect! It truly is one of them products I will always reach for and lasts a good 6-8hours! And for £23 it’s actually very good value for money because of the sheer amount of product you get!

IMG_8514.JPG
Last but not least we have my high end pick
Bobbi brown shimmer brick “bronze”
Let me start by saying the is quite pricey even for me coming in at £32.50, so I really did have to take time to decide what shade I wanted as I won’t be getting another anytime soon! After researching for a while I settled on the shade “Bronze”, and gosh I’m so glad I did! I never used to reach for a bronze highlight purely because I’m so pale I was always worried I’d look rather strange and it would be VERY obvious that I had it on my cheeks, but Iv been pleasantly surprised!!

This has 5 shades that you mix together an results in a gorgeous light gold shimmer that like the mac is not chunky and blends like a dream! I find I can wear it all day with no touch ups and it just stays put!

So that is it my three faves!!! If you have any or try them after this l’d love to know what you think!

Much Love! Elarner XoXoXoX

Chanel soleil tan de Chanel VS Maybelline dream matte mousse sun bronze… DUPE ALERT!

Chanel Soleil Tan de Chanel vs Maybelline Dream Matte Mouse “Sun Bronze”

DUPE ALERT!

20140806-044052 pm-60052385.jpg

So after trying the chanel soleil afew weeks ago on recommendation of a friend i had play with hers and OMG talk about contour heaven! 🙌 seriously it was so easy to use and blended out like a dream! So I had a hunt for one and after seeing how expensive it was I just can’t justify nearly £40 on another bronzer right now (I have a million and 1 already) so I did some serious homework trying to find a dupe yet after googling my little heart out I wasn’t having very much luck…. until I stumbled on a YouTube video with only about 4 views (I wish I knew her name to shout her out! Sorry!) and she was using the Maybelline dream matte mouse foundation as a bronzer … A foundation you say? Whatttt??? Lol but then I had an lightbulb moment! This could well be my dupe! The mousse formula is exactly the same concept, it is matte …no shimmer… Blends amazingly….I need to try this

20140806-043310 pm-59590745.jpg

So I picked up the shade sun bronze from Superdrug (boots doesn’t stock this shade) and I can’t believe how much of a dupe it is! In fact it’s better as you actually have a choice of shades unlike the Chanel’s standard one, I find it works best with the real techniques contour brush it fits perfectly in the little pot and blends the product seamlessly!

20140806-043440 pm-59680121.jpg

Left is a heavy swatch right is blended in natural light)

So on conclusion you need this in your life! I’m so happy I didn’t splash out on the Chanel! As a lover of high end products it’s easy to get caught up on a name and pretty packaging but why spend more if you don’t have to? You can just buy more makeup with the money you save!!!! Hehe! I hope this helps someone looking for a good contour product any questions please feel free to ask!!

Much love Larny XOXOXO
